About Me

Hi, I’m Sue Ann Gleason. I’m a lover of words, a strong believer in the power of imagination, and a champion for women who want to lead a delicious, fully expressed life.

For thirty years I mentored blossoming teachers and taught young children. Then, I decided it was time to follow another calling. I went back to school and entered the second half of my life with a whole new career: holistic health specialist and nourishment guide.

Fast forward, over a decade later, I’m leaning into the next iteration of me: evolving writer and curious creative.

My work has appeared in a collection of literary journals and several anthologies, one of which, The Wonder of Small Things: Poems of Peace & Renewal, just won the 2024 New England Book Award in poetry. I’ve written one full-length poetry collection, in the glint of broken glassand one chapbook, Pencil ManI’m eager to see where my muse takes me next.

When I’m not writing, I nourish my creative spirit facilitating soul-inspired writing circles and building broccoli forests in my mashed potatoes. I look forward to interacting with you here.

What readers say:

Sue Ann’s writing has the spark and crackle of flint—she is feisty and unsparing in her critique of modern politics and the social ills of these times—and yet, there’s a gustatory fleshiness moving through her work, as if she’s reminding us to breathe, to eat, to listen to the birds, to take care of each other.

Fiercely beautiful and politically poignant, Sue Ann Gleason writes the kinds of poems you can’t turn away from, nor would you want to.

Elegant and direct, Sue Ann takes to the page the way a swordswoman picks up her sword, always letting us know exactly what she sees while keeping an eye out for beauty, which is everywhere and might even save us.

Sue Ann’s celebration of the natural world and the delights of home serve as counterpoints to the chaotic political landscape we inhabit.
